Brent Mittelstadt
Brent Mittelstadt specialises in data ethics in relation to algorithms, machine learning, artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, Big Data, and medical expert systems. He is a Research Fellow and British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow in data ethics at the Oxford Internet Institute, a Turing Fellow at the Alan Turing Institute, and a member of the UK National Statistician’s Data Ethics Advisory Committee.

He is co-author of The Ethics of Biomedical Big Data (2016, Springer). His recent publications include ‘A Right to Reasonable Inferences: Re-thinking Data Protection Law in the Age of Big Data and AI’ (with Sandra Wachter, 2019, Columbia Business Law Review), ‘From Individual to Group Privacy in Big Data Analytics;’(2017, Philosophy & Technology), and ‘The Ethics of Algorithms: Mapping the Debate’ (with Patrick Allo, Mariarosaria Taddeo, Sandra Wachter, and Luciano Floridi, 2016, Big Data & Society).
